‘Home at Last’
It is tied to ‘Door to Door’, continuing the exploration of returning home. It focuses on a subtle, often overlooked moment: the transition from public space into the privacy of one’s own home.
I asked eight participants to reflect on this experience, focusing on the feeling of crossing the threshold and closing the front door behind them. This moment often brings a sense of release, comfort, and familiarity, a shift from the outside world into a space that feels personal and secure. The project aims to visualise this emotional connection to the front door and the act of entering home.
Each response is paired with a lino print that I carved of the door referenced in the text, and hand printed into the book. This adds a tactile quality, reinforcing the intimacy and human presence within the work. Together, the text and prints reflect both shared and individual experiences of coming home.
This image of all 8 lino prints side by side was also used for the exhibition posters at UWE’s degree show. It was at three different locations around Bristol, including a large scale poster inside the Arnolfini, where the degree show took place.
