‘5 Hours’ is a response to an experimental working process. I spent five consecutive hours in a quiet, ordinary location, documenting my surroundings through notes, drawings, collage, and observation.

During this time, two cars scraped the curb beside me. Combined with the warm, homely nature of the area, this prompted an entertaining response that personified the pavement.

Using temporary spray chalk, I created a piece directly on the damaged curb. The work acts both as a reminder to drive carefully and as a light hearted piece of public art intended to engage and amuse passers by and local residents.
